Just watched Coco Before Chanel and absolutely loved it. Audrey Tautou has become one of my favorite actresses. She is brilliant in Amelie.
We all know Chanel as a luxury brand, but to see how Coco Chanel transformed the way women dress is quite insightful. Inspired by the nuns in her orphanage, jockeys at the horse race, fishermen by the sea, she stubbornly dressed the way she wanted to, not according to the stuffy style of the 1800s. (I dressed equestrian inspired one day, and someone asked me where I parked my horse -_-) She refused to wear a corset at the risk of "letting [her] fat jiggle" about. She dressed to be comfortable, not to show off. My philosophy exactly.
The movie is worth watching just for the costumes, especially the last scene of her runway show. Vintage haute couture is priceless.
